Management change at the family business Klumpp + Müller

The family-run company Klumpp + Müller continues to focus on consistency and innovation. Dirk Patzelt has recently taken over the operational management of the company. Mr Patzelt has over 30 years of experience in the forwarding and logistics industry and will continue the successful work of his predecessors.

‘I am very much looking forward to the task in this traditional family business,’ says Patzelt. His particular focus is on the sustainable reorganisation of logistics. Klumpp + Müller has already taken the first major steps: a quarter of the lorry fleet is now electric, supported by its own infrastructure. Photovoltaic systems with an output of 1,600 kilowatts have been installed on the roofs of the company’s halls, providing significant support for the operation of the electric vehicles. This makes the company one of the pioneers in the industry when it comes to environmentally friendly transport solutions.

However, the path to fully sustainable logistics is a long-term one. Klumpp + Müller plans to continue using conventional vehicles, as not all requirements can be met by electric vehicles – for example, for longer distances. Here, the company is focussing on alternative fuels. For example, the company’s own petrol stations are being converted to the more climate-friendly fuel HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) in order to further reduce CO2 emissions. In addition to these technical innovations, Klumpp + Müller is also focussing on strategic planning for the future. A central element of this focus is the sustainability report, which is already in progress. From 2025, the sustainability report will be mandatory for many companies. Klumpp + Müller not only wants to fulfil these requirements, but also be one step ahead.
